Max Weiss is currently a graduating junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At the University, Max has quickly become a recognized campus leader. He has held leadership positions within many groups on campus, including the Illini Democrats, the Illinois Student Government, and Students for JB Pritzker. He is involved with many additional groups, including Illini Public Affairs Committee, Model United Nations, and more.
On campus, Max has earned a reputation for being an independent thinker, while still staying true to his left-leaning policies. For this reason, Max was elected as the student government's Chief Justice, where he has made strides to hold those in power accountable and ensure that all students get a fair shot. As Chief Justice, he led the initial formation of the court and ensured that those on it followed the highest standards of ethics and leadership. He later resigned to be able to speak more freely on issues he cared about, rather than be constrained by the office he held.
Max has engaged with many political campaigns and has shown an ability to drive media attention for his groups, himself, and his organizations. In his role as communications director of the Illini Democrats, Max saw his work published in the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, all major TV Channels in the Champaign media market, and countless appearances in the Champaign News-Gazette and the Daily Illini. Max has also maintained good relationships with candidates for major political offices. Max resigned his position as Communications Director in February of 2018 to focus on specific campaigns. He has since interned on the successful gubernatorial campaign of JB Pritzker and served as senior strategist for the successful campaign of Holly Kim for Lake County Treasurer.
Max is currently on the way to finishing up a Bachelors in Political Science, with minors in Communications and Public Relations. He plans to graduate in December of 2018. Max hails from Buffalo Grove, Illinois where he graduated from Stevenson High School. Back home, he lives with his two parents, his brother, and his dog Bentley.
